What to Do When Binance KYC Verification Fails

Don't Panic If KYC Fails

You submitted your KYC verification documents and received a "verification failed" notification — it's understandably frustrating. But don't panic. A failed KYC review doesn't mean Binance has blacklisted you. In the vast majority of cases, it can be fixed. The key is figuring out why it failed and addressing the issue directly.

First, Identify the Rejection Reason

When KYC verification fails, Binance usually provides a reason. You can view the specific rejection reason on the identity verification page within the app or web version. Common reasons include:

Photo quality doesn't meet standards. This is the most common reason — blurry photos, glare, document corners cut off, obstructions, etc.

Document information doesn't match registration info. The name or date of birth you entered during registration doesn't match what's on your document.

Expired document. You submitted a document that's past its validity period.

Facial recognition failed. This could be due to lighting issues, accessories blocking your face, or improper movements during the process.

Document type not accepted. The type of document you submitted isn't supported in your country/region.

Suspected use of a forged document. If the system detects signs of Photoshop or alterations to the document, it will reject it outright.

Once you identify the reason that applies to you, you can address it specifically.

Fixing Photo Quality Issues

If you were rejected due to photo quality, the fix is the simplest — just retake the photos.

Find a well-lit environment, preferably with natural light. Turn off your phone's flash, place the document flat on a solid-colored surface, and photograph it from directly above. Make sure all four corners of the document are in the frame and all text information is clearly legible.

After taking the photo, zoom in to check it first — if you can't read it yourself, it definitely won't pass review.

If facial recognition failed, find a spot with even lighting (facing a window is a good choice), remove any hats, sunglasses, or masks, hold your phone steadily with both hands, and follow the on-screen prompts slowly.

Fixing Information Mismatch Issues

Information mismatch is a trickier problem. During registration, some people may have used an English name, nickname, or romanized spelling, but the document shows a different version of their name — creating a mismatch.

First, check the personal information you entered during registration. You can view this in Binance's account settings. If you find the name was entered incorrectly or in a different format, you'll need to contact Binance customer support to modify the registration information.

How to contact support: In the Binance app or web version, find the customer service chat entry in the bottom right corner, select "Identity Verification" as the issue category, and describe your situation. Support may ask you to provide additional proof to verify your identity.

Another common issue is an incorrect date of birth — for example, entering it in MM/DD/YYYY format when the system uses DD/MM/YYYY. This also requires contacting support for correction.

Fixing Expired Document Issues

This one is the most straightforward — switch to a document that's still valid.

If your ID card just expired, consider using a passport for verification instead. Or go get a new ID card and resubmit once you receive it.

If your document is close to expiring but hasn't yet, submit verification as soon as possible. While the system generally accepts documents within their validity period, a document with less than a month left may be rejected because it could expire between submission and review.

Fixing Unsupported Document Type

Different countries and regions support different document types. If you were rejected using a driver's license, try switching to an ID card or passport.

The verification page lists the document types supported for your country/region — just pick one you have. Passports are the most universally accepted document type. If you have a passport, use it as your first choice.

What If Your Document Is Falsely Flagged as Forged

This situation is rare but does exist. Some people accidentally have a beauty filter or auto-touch-up camera app running when taking photos, causing the algorithm to flag the document images as digitally altered.

The solution is simple: use your phone's native camera app, turn off all filters and beauty features, and submit the rawest possible photos.

If you genuinely didn't alter your document photos but were still rejected, you can contact customer support to appeal. Prepare your original documents — support may request a video verification or additional supporting materials.

Steps to Resubmit Verification

In the Binance app or web version, go to the identity verification page and you'll see a "Resubmit" or "Re-verify" button. Tap it, follow the prompts to re-upload photos and complete facial recognition.

One important note: there's a limit on how many times you can resubmit. If you fail multiple times in a row, the system may temporarily lock your verification access, requiring you to wait (usually 24 hours to a few days) before you can try again. So make sure your photos are properly taken before each submission — don't submit repeatedly with a "let me just try" mindset.

Customer Support Is Your Final Safety Net

If you've tried the methods above and still can't get through, or you're unsure exactly why the review failed, contacting Binance customer support directly is the most reliable approach.

Open the Binance app or web version, tap the chat icon in the bottom right, and select the "Identity Verification" issue category. You can start with the bot — if the bot can't resolve it, you'll be transferred to a human agent.

When communicating with support, be clear about your situation: when you submitted the verification, what document type you used, and what rejection reason you received. If support requests additional materials, provide them as asked.

Binance customer support is available in multiple languages, so communication shouldn't be a barrier. Generally, once support gets involved, the issue gets resolved.

What to Do After Verification Is Approved

Once you've finally passed KYC verification, don't forget to set up your account security while you're at it. Enable two-step verification (Google Authenticator or SMS), set up an anti-phishing code, and configure a withdrawal address whitelist. These settings greatly enhance your account security.

KYC verification may be a hassle, but the process exists to protect both users and the platform. Once complete, you'll unlock full access to all features and can officially start trading on Binance.
